I have a date

I have a date

I tried Boy Scouts several times, but it never called to me.  I could have benefitted from obeying their motto “Always Prepared”, including today.  I’ve been known to jump and then try to build a pool before I land.

Off I go to a hot-springs.  Driving, I see a sign that says Winding Road Next 99 miles.  I smiled, kicked the tunes up a notch and enjoyed the ride through the Lolo National Forest.  The parking lot was full, so I expected a big party, but after a two-mile hike, I was caught by surprise to see steam rising from the riverside, up and over the thirty-foot cliff I was hiking.  I followed a trail down to several springs that were more ‘warm’ than hot.  The pools are man-made with rocks and boulders from the river, used to create a border, trapping the hot water.  The problem is, there are cracks between the rocks, allowing the river to trickle into the hot pools.  It’s an interesting sensation, sitting in a pool of hot water while a trail of cold runs underneath your derriere.

I met a couple that visit the springs twice a year, and we are scheduled for meet there in January.  They say the entire valley is covered in snow.

I had read online to expect nudity.  What I didn’t expect was no nudity, translating to me hiking two miles, temperature in the twenties, in wet drawers.  Frozen cod.  I also had fallen earlier, sinking my entire left leg in the river water.  I’ll pack a change of clothes next time.
