Mirror, Mirror
Mirror, Mirror
On the wall, placed with care
I see you everywhere.
Always eager to help me see
An image reflected just for me.
Don’t accept what others see
Mirrors reflect singularity
Avert mine eyes, look away
I’ll check back another day
Most reflections, I protest.
No attempt to look my best.
Rose’s lenses fade in time.
As happens when plucked from the vine.
No longer tint the blemishes divine.
Desperately hide, ashamed of mine.
Yet steady and clear, you persevere
Patiently waiting for me to appear.
“Take a look but please don’t frown
I promise not to knock you down.”
I’ll show your blemishes, no mal intent
But I’m the only. For you I’m meant.
We’re the same, face to face
Lean in close and call me Grace.
