Real rv living
Real RV Life #862
My home has the water heater and HVAC systems connected, so without one means without both. Being in a small seasonal town means a very little pool of service technicians, causing several weeks without either. Thankfully, living in a small seasonal town and spending most of the time in the mountains alone lessens my chances of running into people. If I do, they’re in the same condition I am.
I’ve woken most of the past two weeks with indoor temperatures in the forties. Refrigerators are set at forty. If it gets colder, I’ll have to open the fridge to warm up.
Real RV Life in Winter #1
I was fishing a nook of the Salmon River one morning. I knew it was cold; the air was like crystal fireflies frozen in the air. Breathing in quick and deep produced a reflex cough.
The first few casts of the fly rod went well. Long, smooth arcs of green filament stretched across the waters like spiders ballooning in the winds. A few moments later, the line resisted release, snapped and whipped at me, and seemed ‘heavier’.
The water from the river was freezing the line to the fishing pole and coating the eyelets with slush. We don’t get that in Texas.
